When Covid takes away trick or treating what can you do to make up for it? Super elaborate family costume, obviously. I’ll do a breakdown of the costumes and characters tomorrow but for now just enjoy this group photo.

It’s been fun learning more about the government and elections with Chase over the past few weeks. We’ve got our electoral map ready to color in on Tuesday/Wednesday. Hopefully some results will be ready to be recorded by then, at least. We’ve got the 2020 swing states outlined in green (in case you’re wondering what that signifies). And the one that’s already colored in is the 2016 results. I’m hoping this year’s map looks *a bit* different.
If you haven’t already, please (PLEASE) make sure your vote is counted. If you end up quarantined on Election Day, there are still options for voting so reach out to me and I can get you the info.
Some days, my co-worker and I don’t get along very well. Some days, like today, it’s all sunshine and bunny-rabbits. Today was a really good day. Today was a day that made me think that Covid isn’t all bad. In what world would I have two days per week alone with my 8.5 year old?
Sometimes we just need a reminder that it’s not all bad, you know? Can you help me with that every now and then? Thanks in advance.
One of Robbe’s friends celebrated her birthday over the weekend and we got to be a part of it Covid-style. A sweet sign, lots of honking, and two happy 1st graders. There was also snow. Obviously.
This is where we’ve been hanging out these days. Where else can we go, after all? Lake Pulaski is our home away from home most weekends and we couldn’t be more grateful to have a break from the monotony of Covid life.
I’ve never carved pumpkins in such a cozy environment. The fire was blazing, the boys we’re active participants (not always the case in years past), and it was an all around lovely way to spend part of our afternoon.
The boys really nailed the traditional jack o’lantern face, didn’t they?
Losing tooth #2 was a tough one. Robbe has been working on this tooth for weeks but we finally got it to break loose. It was a big day.
We did it. We voted. Now make sure you do, too. Ok? Pretty please!
So this happened today. The boys were giddy. I was less enthusiastic.
As far as first snows go, this one was actually pretty great. A decent amount, warm temps (as warm as you’re going to get with snow, at least), and it was even packing snow (think snowballs, snow man, etc). We finished the night off with some hot cocoa. Winter is pretty great…just not quite yet.
The boys are 4-H officers this year! They’re sharing the position of Sergeant at Arms so they’re responsible for leading the pledges at every meeting—even virtually. The pressure is on.
We’ve never put out a yard sign before. Somehow, this year it feels necessary. Robbe declared that he has seen more Biden signs than Trump. That’s got to mean something.
Two thousand days of blog posts. Two thousand. That’s crazy, right?
With everything going on right now, I thought adding a “feeling thankful for” category was appropriate for this round of team updates. The world is so full of stress and uncertainties right now, it’s nice to be reminded about all there is to be thankful for. And we’re very aware of how privileged we are to be as comfortable as we are.

FEELING THANKFUL FOR: Having a lake house (thanks, grandma and grandpa!)
DREAM FOR THE FUTURE: Being back in school full time. He misses his friends.

FAVORITES: Playing just about anything with Chase, wearing masks (kids are so resilient), free-choice time at school, video-gaming, learning to read (he's doing SO well), drinking tea, talking (and talking and talking), making people laugh, eating sloppy joes (thanks, school lunch program)

DREAM FOR THE FUTURE: Playdates with friends. Why is everything so difficult right now?
At least someone is happy to be back inside with the cold weather looming.
We did a bit of exploring on the Ice Age Trail yesterday. The sound of leaves crunching beneath your feet just never gets old, you know?

It wasn’t a particularly warm day but it was sunny so we went for a final swim of the season thanks to some sweet friends. The boys had a blast and I enjoyed listening to the giggling and antics.
Summer 2020 was a bummer in so many ways, but this pool brought us much joy and saved my sanity on many occasions. Also, the boys are practically expert swimmers now, so that’s nice.
Today was a good day. Really great, actually. We enjoyed a new hike (Area 178 in Chippewa) in some beautiful, sunny weather. There was even some epic rock-scaling. I’d definitely make a trip there again. On our way home, we stopped at our favorite apple orchard (Bushel and a Peck) to pick up our second round of freshly-picked apples and even some pumpkins this time.
I love fall.
Seven months ago, who would have thought face mask washing would have been added to my weekly to do list? And yet here we are. Thank goodness for a talented mom/grandma that keeps us stocked.
