Day 2849 | Fair Volunteering

Busy day at the 4-H fair. Robbe was on the grounds for 10 hours today! Granted, not all of that was volunteering but a lot of it was! Food stand, Lego activity, balloon twisting…fun AND helpful. A win-win!
The roles have been reversed and now Robbe is home with me while Chase has a morning camp. He brings a different intensity to life but that’s what we all need.
Day two of the fair means judging time! The boys did multiple interviews about their projects and already earned a bunch of blue ribbons (and one red each). Stay tuned tomorrow for the official results.
I can’t wait to take in all the projects on display—theirs and everyone else’s. I just love seeing the talent and creativity of these kids.
We did it! We made it to the fair project drop off. Between both boys, we delicately delivered 41 projects—from posters to candles, and photography to Legos. This was probably my favorite fair-prep season so far. I had so much fun passing on my crafting and design knowledge—and trying out new projects, too. The boys were very patient and motivated through it all.
Judging starts tomorrow so I’ll be sure to report back!
The best.
It’s 4-H project season around here and we’re getting things wrapped up. If all goes as planned, the boys will be entering 43 projects this time around (total, not each). I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I do love 4-H fair season. It’s a lot of work with sometimes minimal motivation but it is very cool to see what they accomplish.
Chase is basically a balloon artist now. He can twist dogs and swords. I’ll let you know if his portfolio expands.
It’s been almost a month since I last posted. I’m not going to apologize because I don’t feel like I had much say in the matter. Summer is crazy and blogging just hasn’t made it to the top of my list, unfortunately.
I’ll chime in today, though, with this sweet photo of Chase and me on a trolley tour. I’ve been waiting 1.5 years to get on this thing and it finally happened today thanks to a dear friend’s birthday. It was every bit as fun as I had imagined. Take a trolley tour—you won’t regret it!
I’m not sure where the days and weeks go but we’re holding on tight over here.
Robbe has lots of summer activities on his schedule. Chase? Not so much. That means we get lots of quality time together. I’m definitely not complaining. He’s a fun friend and enjoys coffee dates.
5th grade and 7th grade in the books. I can’t believe it either. Our little family is officially done with elementary school. Honestly, it really doesn’t feel real. We’re so thankful that both boys spent their year happy and thriving. And both were sad to be walking away today. That’s a good sign, right?
On to summer.
Here. We. Go.
It was our last Wax Museum yesterday and Robbe crushed it. He researched Garett Morgan, the inventor of the first gas mask and traffic light. Robbe had to do a ton of research, write a paper, write + memorize a speech, make a prop (that’s what the first gas mask looked like!) and create that poster. So cool, right? This is one of my very favorite projects. I’ll miss this school.
Also….can you handle how cute he is in that little sport coat and tie? I can’t!
Chase was part of a Memorial Day marching band today. It might be his one and only time and he picked a good one. It was a beautiful day for a parade. And the band sounded great.
The temperature wasn’t quite as warm as I would like for a lake weekend but I the sun was out so I’m not complaining.
It was cold. It was crazy windy. But boy did this guy have fun. I don’t think I’ll ever be a sports mom but it does make my heart happy to see him doing what he loves.
We stumbled upon some new sculptures on our walk to the library this afternoon. This was one of the most…umm…interesting ones. Enjoy.
The local arts center is hosting my favorite exhibit of the year! Flower arrangements inspired by art. So much creative talent in one room. Enjoy a few of our favorites!
Marvel might be the best cat snuggler of all time. And one of the cutest.
This made me chuckle today.
What a dreamy weekend to celebrate Mother’s Day! We spent lots time outside (planting flowers, playing badminton, running a 5k [Robbe and Chris], replacing flags for veterans at a local cemetery [Chase and Sara], enjoying family walks…) and still managed to accomplish some needed tasks AND I finally convinced the boys to watch Homeward Bound. Big weekend, right?
I was feeling all the love from my three favorite fellas and am so very lucky to get to spend every day with them.
