Day 2569 | Reunion
/We were reunited with the tiniest of the boys’ cousins today. Somehow, he’s even cuter than the last time we saw him.

I really love this place, you know?
We had such a lovely weekend with these crazy cats. Tennis, Dungeons & Dragons, yummy food + drinks, cribbage, matching outfits, and so much laughing. It was pretty perfect.
Our favorite tennis player was in town for a tournament today and it was the perfect morning for some outdoor spectating. We cheered her on to victory so I’m pretty sure we get to take some of the credit for the win.
I feel like I’ve spent the summer running to this and that, working every free moment, scheduling all of our free time, and not really enjoying (or appreciating!) the time with the boys as much as I’d like. After Chris had two full days off with the boys last week, I decided today was my “day off” with the boys, too. We had such a good time…managed to do a little bit of everything:
Something outdoors: a jaunt to the Devil’s Punchbowl
Something new: stopped at a library we’ve never been to
Something we’re excited about: we toured the co-op a town over to see what the new EC co-op is going to look like when it opens in October
Something kind: delivered lunch to Zoe at work
Something adventurous: thrift store treasure-hunting, of course! We snagged a couple of good finds!
Something delicious: we tried the new Mexican popsicle (and ice cream) shop. It was SO tasty! We’ll definitely be back with Chris.
Something productive: the final swim lesson of the summer…with *a few* extra minutes of free swim time
Something non-productive: extra video game time because, obviously, that’s what the boys wish for more than anything else
We squeezed in our annual corn picking outing today. It’s always one of our favorite harvests. I think we were out there for about 10 minutes. Ha!
Also, sorry I’ve been MIA again. For real, what’s happened to this summer?!? I’ll try to do better, but this might be the new status quo. Thanks for understanding.
We’re feeling all the Michigan love over here today. Missing our friends from the next state over something fierce.
A beautiful summer evening, delicious Pad Thai, and catching up with one of my forever favorites. Yeah. It was a good night. Safe travels, back to Florida, friend! We’ll miss you around here.
One of our favorite events of the year! We even got to explore the art twice over the weekend because we were actually in town. Crazy, I know.
People are incredibly talented, aren’t they?
All of the 4-H projects are safely home and the boys even shared a ribbon with Flopsy for all his support. Creating and showing all of these projects was such a great experience—the boys got into it more than I would have expected. And we’ve already got big plans for next year.
Just another normal Saturday in our neighborhood. Have I mentioned how much we all love these waving guys?
Our soon-to-be sixth grader had his first band concert today. It was even better than I expected after just five weeks of lessons. I’m excited to have band back in my life again.
We made it! Nineteen 4-H projects complete and dropped off for judging. It was a busy race to the finish, but not nearly as bad as it could have been. I know it’s a bit crazy, but I do really love 4-H projects. And it was fun to see the boys get more into it this year, too.
It might not be new but it’s new to us! And we’re fans.
If you’re not rushing to finish 4-H fair projects by the end of July, is it really even summer?
We’ve had two days full of Kubb fun over here. The boys played yesterday in a kids tournament (with 23 teams) and Chris played today with some friends in the “real deal” tournament (with 128 teams). A fun time was had by all—and I fully enjoyed the spectating.
The big one had a camp today so it was the little one’s chance for a coffee date with mom. Chatting, card games, and coffee (or a steamer, if you’re Robbe). It doesn’t get much better than that.
The boys made this delicious fruit pizza today with their babysitter. The perfect use for some of yesterday’s blueberries!
Sorry for the crazy lack of posts lately. We went on a lake house vacation last week and I decided to push blogging to the side along with all of my other regular responsibilities. It was lovely.
Back to reality, though, and lots more camps, music lessons, and laundry (so much laundry). Oh, and work…that little thing.
I’m excited to report that the boys and I did sneak out for some berry picking this afternoon. We were hoping for raspberries but had to settle for blueberries. Not quite the lush picking experience we’ve had in the past, but it was the perfect weather and a beautiful setting.
Have I mentioned lately how much we love the library? Today’s library adventure included getting up close and personal with—and learning a bunch about—reptiles. It was pretty great. Reptiles are cool.
